Hi welcome to epilepticdog.com

We are Denis & Glynis and Elvis, our beagle, is epileptic

We adopted Elvis in April 2022 knowing he was epileptic. We had waited 2 months to see if anyone else would adopt him but of course, the illness and the veterinary and medication costs must have been off-putting.

Over the last 5 months, we have realised how having an epileptic dog can rule your life.

strict hours for medication

medication spreadsheet charts

sleepless nights

constantly watching

not able to go out together without Elvis

saving him from drowning

constantly hungry

flailing legs

cleaning up after fits

three days and nights of seizures

worry about further brain damage

difficulty in finding day-care

muscle spasms

sprained leg muscles

difficulty walking

difficulty drinking

bumping into things following a fit

and on and on it goes . . . . .

OUR AIMS FOR THIS WEBSITE

We would like to provide help and support to families with epileptic dogs through a network of people in the similar situations. We have spent hours searching the internet looking for help and guidance; such as what to do during a seizure and how to help him after a seizure. We would like to make all this information available in one place to help others going through similar situations as ours.

We will provide links to useful resources without overloading you with duplicate details.

We have a Members Group where you can ask questions and others from our community can answer using their own experiences.
